COMPUTERIZED LIFT PLANNING

Most jobs can be figured by simply having a look at the range diagram and load charts, but Harrison Crane Service also utilizes computerized lift planning and selection software. This software helps us determine the best crane for a given job and allows us to visually represent the job to our customers.

We had relied solely on Compu-Crane, which was the de-facto standard for the industry, for sometime, but we presently are starting to use KranXpert(www.kranxpert.com)from Germany. KranXpert is very easy to use and is extremely intuitive. It also allows us to quickly import both ground plans(either hand sketched or produced in CAD or other software) and overhead views from Google Earth so as to give our customers a much clearer idea of where the crane will be on their job site. We have been so impressed by the ease of use of KranXpert that we have been talking with KranXpert about being their US distributor.

For a full review of current lift planning software available today written for Crane Hotline magazine by Michael Harrison, see the following (pdf): here.
