For the last 7 months or so our Potain HDT80 has been working on the Edgewater Lofts project at 22nd and Biscayne Blvd in Miami. The site conditions were very tight on this job and the shell contractor did not want to put a fixed mount electric on the job due to cost. The problem was, however, that the building was to rise 12 stories. The Potain, typically, is better suited to 6 or 7 story projects. After some careful calculations, it was determined that the Potain could do the job. The first half of the job was done with the boom in the levelposition. Once we got up to the 7th floor, we raised the boom into the luffed position. Given that there was about a 40' high pool deck area between the crane and the high part of the building, this luffed position allowed us to reach the higher floors. It was very tight, but we got the job done!!
