View archived Jobs of the Month

Art Basel Miami Beach takes place from December  6 - 9, 2007. The international art show in Miami Beach ( Florida ) is the American sister event of Art Basel in Switzerland , the most important annual art show worldwide for the past 37 years. Art Basel Miami Beach is a new type of cultural event, combining an international art show with an exciting program of special exhibitions, parties and crossover events including music, film, architecture and design. Exhibition sites are located in the city's beautiful Art Deco District, within walking distance of the beach and most hotels and restaurants.

Harrison Crane Service assisted with several projects related to Art Basel. Perhaps the most interesting project was the installation of “ The Saw” sculpture in the Design District. The sculpture takes the form of a multi-meter stainless steel saw cutting through the earth's surface. The visual concept lies in the similarities between the teeth of the saw and the jagged outline of the Moscow Kremlin wall. Andrei Filippov, one of the most famous Russian artists, created the sculpture. He graduated from the studio at the Moscow Arts Theater. The artist's works are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, The Russian Museum, The Moscow Museum of Modern Art and also in museums and private collections in the USA and European countries.

Harrison Crane unloaded the massive saw and its heavy concrete bases from closed top containers in our yard. After transferring the pieces to our trailers, we transported them to the job where they were installed. Harrison Crane handled all the rigging and coordinated the street closure. The job went off without a hitch and “The Saw” is now in place for the public to enjoy. If you want to see “The Saw” it is located at NE 39 th St and 1 st Court .
