AUGUST 2006 JOB OF THE MONTH

The Del Vista Condo in Aventura had had a long running problem with a small rooftop pool that just would not stop leaking. After years of trying to fix the problem the association decided that it would be best just to fill in the pool and make it a sundeck. The problem was that the building stands almost 245’ high.

When Harrison Crane was called in to quote the job, we learned that the contractor had already received quotes for 250-300 ton class machines to do the job. We were able to bid the job using our 120 ton with jib inserts to save the contractor and building a substantial amount of money. The job entailed flying steel beams, concrete buckets, and other construction material up to the sundeck. As you can see from the pictures, there was not a lot of room to spare, but we were able to do everything the contractor required.

The crane was deftly run by operator Gene Schera and all the loads were expertly flagged in by Alex Lanza (both pictured).
